See what others say about their GK YGAT experience
"…the reality was even though we were building two houses, I knew there were many more that needed to be built." (Bosco, GK YGAT 04)
"It really showed me that we might be doing something on a small scale but put together it's something huge..." (Jamike, GK YGAT 05)
"I thought I came to help them. I thought they were poor. But I was more poor than them. They gave me their love. They built my inner peace that I was seeking. It was like it was them who was helping me. For every sacrifices that I made, to come to the Philippines was worth it." (Richard John, GK YGAT 06)
"I climatised to the area quickly and the cold showers weren't cold anymore. The dusty roads weren't dusty anymore, it became like home..." (Marilee, GK YGAT 04)
"The GK experience has allowed me to make invaluable friendships not only with my companions but also to those people young and old I met each day of the trip…" (Christine, GK YGAT 05)
"Despite the many hardships that people face there, we were amazed by the warm welcome we always received and hospitality of many Filipino families. Even families who had almost nothing shared what little they had. Such generosity was very humbling." (Adrienne Vella, GK YGAT 06)
"I came here to be the hero full of arrogance and pride. I thought to help the weak and small and sadder ones than I. But somewhere down the line, I could not see, that the one who needed saving was me." (Eleazar Arranz, GK YGAT07)
"The GK experience has instilled in me a greater sense of pride in the Philippines and its people. I’ve also experienced firsthand that all you need is love and a sense of belonging in order to live a fruitful life." (Joseph Oconer, GK YGAT 07)
"After YGAT, I am convinced that GK is an inspired movement that transforms not only the beneficiaries but the GK workers and volunteers as well." (Geraldine Pace, GK YGAT 07)
"I realised that I have so much to give back in return to help others, and how fortunate I am to have been given this opportunity." (Bianca Lucas, GK YGAT 08)
"As an individual, I am proud to say that GK really is the hope of the poor in action and it’s about time that the opportunity is finally here to sustain the global community out of poverty." (Geffin Musa, GK YGAT 07)
"Now when I think of Mindanao, words that come to mind are natural, diverse, challenging and hope-filled. But I never would have known had I not taken the challenge and decided to go to Mindanao in the first place." (Julia Berg Perez, GK YGAT 08)
