GK YGAT Trivia Night
By GKOM Australia News Bureau Date Posted: November 01, 2007
On Saturday 4 August, the GK Trivia Nite was
held at St Patrick’s Cathedral Hall Parramatta.
The event was organised to assist GK YGAT
volunteers with raising funds for their
upcoming mission trip to the Philippines in
January/February 2008.
The hall was filled to capacity, full of
excitement and dare I say a slight hint of
competitiveness as well. Who says raising money for a good cause
can’t involve a bit of healthy competition and
rivalry!
Before the nitty gritty question time
commenced, each team devised an original
and creative team name and settled into their
seats.
The question rounds ranged from sport to
entertainment, to science and general
knowledge, and even a spelling round! A hark
back to primary school days for most.
Throughout the night, lucky door prizes
donated by a number of generous supporters of
GK, were auctioned off by the trivia hosts. The
auctions proved popular and generated the
most rowdiness amongst participants. I have
never seen anyone bid that much for a box of
Spanish bread before!
The needs of all were truly catered for as there
was even a GK Café on premises, where
people could place orders for a deliciously
brewed hot chocolate or mocha.
All-in-all the night was a great success and
from the level of noise generated, I can safely
say it was thoroughly enjoyable as well.
Congratulations to ‘Wooden Spoon’ who took
out the trivia night.
A big thank you to all the volunteers from GK
Youth who acted as MC’s or as runners,
collecting score cards and tallying points on
the ever-closely monitored scoreboard. Also,
thankyou to Joy Lopez and her team of
baristas working behind the scenes at the GK
Café.
