Within GK Youth, all members are here for the common cause - to fight and to raise awareness of poverty. In amongst these people are those who are called upon to help give direction to these efforts. These are the leaders of GK Youth. There are some that have been with GK Youth and leaders for a while now. But now the baton must be passed, and new leaders are to be found to carry on the passion and the vision.

On Sunday 29th of March, the first official GK Leadership Training was held at St Patrick's Cathedral Parish Hall, Parramatta. At this training lead by Joekarl Diaz, Joy Lopez and Arbie Mojica, some new and some existing members, as well as current leaders attended, so that they can learn more about leadership, what is expected from a leader, and how to lead the GK way.

While various topics were discussed, all attendees were ready to learn more from this session to have a better idea of what is involved in being a GK leader. Some points that were taken from the session was that leaders should have vision, support and be accountable for the group; a leader does not always have to be at the front of the group, but can lead from within; and being a GK leader, they must also be conscious of the 7 core values of GK.

Due to the growth of GK Youth and its works within Australia, new leaders are needed for the various programmes such as Go National and GKYGAT. More training sessions are intended to be held throughout the year.
