GKYGAT'08 IBM Training and Visa Requirements By ALAN LUCAS Date Posted: November 20, 2007 Hello GK YGATers of 2008! 2 months to go before our adventure begins! Just some updates and announcements for y'all. We now have about 60 participants from NSW and VIC ready to partake in this exciting mission of nation building - LVM...and we're still expecting for more to come. Congratulations guys! Some of you guys have probably started preparing for the trip which is ideal but for those who havent I strongly encourage you to do this soon. The next few weeks will fly...trust me you dont want to leave everything in the last minute - speaking from last year's experience = ) IBM TRAINING Good news! IBM has donated another lot of computers this year. Just wanted to know if anyone would be interested in helping do IBM workshop and handover of the computers that we will be getting from IBM. IBM has given GK 8 sets of computers which we plan to use to setup a training kiosk at a GK Village in Manila after GKYGAT08. The program is called gk@ibm training kiosk phase II and we will need helpers to train volunteer teachers to conduct the program which has 4 courses: SIBOL (pre-school), SAGIP (primary), SIGA (high school) and SIPAG (adults). Tentative date is Feb 3 to 5 but I think we can do it in 2 days so straight after GKGYAT on Sunday and Monday but might need the Tuesday morning. If anyone is interested (especially those with a teaching background), please let me or one of the other GK YGAT leaders know. We'll be scheduling a planning meeting soon... VISA REQUIREMENTS Philippine visa requirements have changed and people who were NOT born in the Philippines will need to apply for a visa if staying over 21 days.
