Truly at Home - SFC WGAT By MICHELL VICTORINO
There is no way you could prepare for when our Lord shows off His creation to you first hand. I had the privilege of experiencing this when I went to the Philippines to attend the Singles for Christ World Great Adventure Tour (SFC WGAT) for 2 weeks that started on February 11.
From the word go it was already an adventure. After being taught new songs and a brief introduction from 5 brothers from different parts of the world (Ronnie from USA, Amir from Canada, Delson from Qatar, Zaldy and Ferdie both from Dubai) we took part in an Amazing Race, taking us from Katipunan to Makati. On the next day we went to Bambam, Tarlac for a 3 day build with the Aetas. The Aetas are a group of indigenous Filipinos, who for most of their lives have lived in the mountains (though they were heavily affected when Mt. Pinatubo erupted). With God’s grace and Gawad Kalinga we are slowly giving them their new homes, complete with a SIBOL school and a medical centre.
The remaining 2 weeks included a tour of a few more GK Villages around Manila and attending the 15th ILC at Clark, Pampanga (the biggest delegation in 15 years), where nearly 6000 single men and women gathered from around the world.
For our Rest & Recreation we went to Bohol to see the Chocolate Hills, Tarsiers, churches and had lunch at the famous Loboc Floating Restaurant. We also had a 3 day Discovery Weekend at GK Reunion Village in San Jose, Batangas. Finally we had a farewell party, which was held at GK Buayang Bato at Guadalupe.
I know that no matter where God calls me to go I will always feel at home for His love can be felt from everyone I meet and the places I go to.
